Welcome to the Division of International Studies (DIS) at Korea University. In view of training experts for the intellectual demands of the global era, DIS of Korea University was launched in 2002. It is now one of the major programs at the university, with nearly 400 students and 40 faculty members, including adjunct professors.
One of the most appealing aspects of DIS at Korea University is that it is an interdisciplinary program encompassing a wide range of disciplines, including International Commerce, International Development & Cooperation, and International Peace & Security as well Regional Studies and Korean Studies. The world faces many challenges, including global warming, global financial crisis, widening income gap, military conflicts and terrorism, and the interdisciplinary nature of DIS allows students to deepen their global perspective and gain valuable insights into the workings of global processes, international relations, global governance, international trade and business, and development organizations. Also, the 3+2 combined/dual degree program with GSIS provides opportunities for students to complete both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in five years, while giving the benefits of expanding knowledge in diverse areas. Furthermore, DIS’ cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) will provide students with experience and knowledge essential in the area of diplomacy and international organizations.
Our program is designed to meet the high demands of the most talented students from all over the world, and I am privileged and thrilled to welcome those who are motivated and who are determined to be future leaders to become part of our exciting program.
